SOLEDAD — Soledad Unified School District will be naming the kindergarten building on the Gabilan Elementary School campus in honor of John Fuller, a beloved employee who died shortly after retiring from the district after more than 30 years.
Fuller was a custodian with Soledad USD from 1987 to 2020. He worked at Gabilan School, where he provided dedicated service to the students and staff.
“He was beloved by the Gabilan School community,” the district stated in a news release.
Fuller, a 1964 graduate of Gonzales High School, retired from Soledad USD in 2020. He died June 1, 2021, at age 74 at his home in Soledad.
“He was hard working and enjoyed helping others. He was a great man with patience and love. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him,” according to his obituary.
The building will be named the John Fuller Kindergarten Building.
A building dedication ceremony is planned for Thursday, Aug. 31, at 3 p.m. at Gabilan School, 330 Walker Drive, in Soledad. There will be a short program, followed by the dedication ceremony and refreshments.
