SOLEDAD — Soledad Historical Society is hosting an open house on Saturday, March 15, from 1 to 3 p.m., featuring a new display titled “150 Years of Schools in Soledad.”

This exhibition showcases the rich history of education in Soledad, beginning with the first school built in 1875 on land donated by Catalina Mundas, where the current Main Street Middle School now stands. Visitors can explore the evolution of local education, including the transformation from the original Soledad Public School established in 1908 to the subsequent establishments of San Vicente, Gabilan, Rose Ferraro, Frank Ledesma and Jack Franscioni elementary schools.

The display will feature an array of historical artifacts such as pictures, graduation programs, diplomas, yearbooks and other memorabilia.

Soledad Historical Society is located at 137 Soledad St. in Soledad.
