SALINAS VALLEY — Greenfield High’s softball team rebounded from a 12-0 loss at home against North Monterey County with a 14-5 win two days later in Gonzales. The Spartans had 14 hits in the setback to the Lady Bruins.

Gonzales began the week with a 18-4 loss at home to Rancho San Juan, and completed a tough week with a 16-6 loss at Monte Vista Christian.

In games this week, Gonzales hosted Robert Louis Stevenson on Wednesday and will host the North Monterey County Condors on Friday. Greenfield hosts the Condors on Wednesday and plays at Monte Vista Christian on Friday.

King City postponed last week’s game against Everett Alvarez due to rain and lost 11-0 last Thursday to the Alisal Trojans.

“Alisal has a really well rounded team and their pitching was really good,” said King City head coach Artie Carrillo. “There was just not enough hitting on our end. This week we play against Soledad (Tuesday) and Carmel (Thursday). Both games are at home. Friday will be the rescheduled game with Everett Alvarez.”

Soledad played a pair of games last week, dropping their first contest 12-8 at home with North Salinas and losing 15-5 to the Carmel Padres at home.

The Lady Aztecs played Tuesday at King City and will host Everett Alvarez on Thursday.
