GONZALES — The skate park on First Street has received new park equipment over the past week.
The new equipment, which was installed by the American Ramp Company, is solid metal with a 20-year warranty from the skate park manufacturer.
“The new equipment fits into the path there currently,” said Recreation Coordinator Sara Papineau-Brandt. “It doesn’t expand the size of the skate park.”
Skaters will be able to use the park to skate continuously without stopping.
Papineau-Brandt said the new wave of skate parks is to mimic all the things skaters cannot do downtown, such as a bench, rail or staircase in a skate park environment.
The installation was expected to be completed by Feb. 5.
