BIKE HELMETS

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Union School District Resource Center, 493 El Camino Real, will host a bike helmet fitting event today from 3 to 5 p.m., by appointment only. Helmets reduce the risk of head injury while cycling if they are properly fitted. Elementary and middle school students in need of a bike helmet can receive one along with information on helmet fitting and bicycle safety practices. PARKING BARRIERS

KING CITY — Mee Memorial Hospital’s front parking area was blocked off Monday and Tuesday due to an installation of wiring. The King City hospital said it expected the installation and parking lot closure to be finished by today.


AUTHOR SHOWCASE

KING CITY — Author Janice Gilbertson will be at Sol Treasures for a Meet the Author event on Sept. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. She will have her latest book, “The Dark Side of Gibson Road,” with her for the event. Gilbertson lives in the Santa Lucia Mountains, and her earlier books include the novels “Summer of ’58” and “The Canyon House.”
