VIRTUAL PARADE

GONZALES — With festivities around the state canceled due to Covid-19 concerns, the City of Gonzales will host a Virtual Fourth of July Parade. This offers a chance for residents to enjoy some festivities while maintaining safe distances through the online format. Participants are asked to email photos of decorations, signs, patriotic outfits or parade entries from previous years. City staff will then assemble the shots as a slideshow for the community to enjoy as a virtual parade. Send submissions to sp*******@ci.us. Deadline is today, July 1, at 5 p.m.

COMMUNITY WATCH

SALINAS VALLEY — Residents throughout the area are asked to keep a vigilant watch when they go past local fireworks booths, which have been set up for nonprofit groups and organizations to use as fundraisers. The announcement came from King City Stangs Football and Cheer, when their fireworks booth in the King City Safeway parking lot was burglarized and vandalized the night of June 28. Only flags and signs were missing, but the group urged community members to drive past their local booths to help keep troublemakers away from stands, and to report anything suspicious to police.
