PAINT CLASS

GONZALES — A youth paint class called “Goodbye Summer” is set for Saturday, Sept. 10, from 12 to 1 p.m. at Painte Studio and Gallery, 222 Alta St., in Gonzales. Children ages 5 and up are invited to join the instructional painting class, with no experience needed. Step-by-step instruction and all materials will be provided. ESPORTS TOURNAMENT

GREENFIELD — Greenfield’s first ever “Heroes League of Champions” video game tournament will take place Saturday, Sept. 17, at 1 p.m. at the Greenfield Community Center. The esports tournament is composed of 32 participants ages 13-plus battling it out for a chance to call themselves the best gamer in South Monterey County. Space is limited. REMODELED ACADEMY

SALINAS — Monterey County Office of Education and the Bob Hoover Academy will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of their new classrooms within the large Salinas Airport hangar. The event is set for Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 1:30 p.m. at the Salinas Airport, 30 Mortensen Ave., in Salinas. Refreshments and tours of the newly remodeled learning area and simulator will be offered afterward. The Academy is open to any local high school resident who would like to enroll in its alternative education program. Transportation to the school campus is provided by MCOE for South Monterey County residents.
