BIKE REPAIR

GONZALES — Greenfield Community Science Workshop will host a Bike Repair Workshop offering free tune-up and repair services on Friday, Sept. 15, in Gonzales. The workshop will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. at the corner of Fifth Street and Gabilan Court. Donations of used bikes will also be accepted at the event. In addition, there will be bikes available to fix and take for those without one. For more information, call 831-233-8335.


WASTE DISPOSAL

LOCKWOOD — A free household hazardous waste collection event will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the San Antonio School parking lot, 67550 Lockwood-Jolon Road, in Lockwood. Residents can bring unwanted household hazardous waste for proper disposal to Salinas Valley Recycles’ first mobile collection event in South Monterey County. The event is limited to 200 cars. WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

SOLEDAD — A Women Empowerment Resource Fair, presented by the Limitless Mentorship and Scholarship Program and Rotary District 5230, will be held Saturday, Sept. 16, in Soledad. The Resource Fair, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Soledad High School, 425 Gabilan Drive, is a free public event that provides information and resources for women and girls of all ages. Among the offerings are mental health workshops, a one-hour self-defense class, free school supplies and books as well as work-wear, a barbecue lunch and bus transportation. In addition, a women’s speaking panel will feature Founder and Executive Director Genevieve Armendariz, Soledad Mayor Anna Velazquez, Soledad Councilwoman and Business Owner Maria Corralejo and Second Harvest Food Bank CEO Erica Padilla-Chavez.
