WALK WITHOUT VIOLENCE
GREENFIELD — Greenfield Police Department is partnering with YWCA Monterey County for the annual Walk Without Violence event on Wednesday, Oct. 18, to bring attention and awareness to ending domestic violence. Resources will be available from 3 to 5 p.m. at Greenfield Memorial Hall, 615 El Camino Real, with the walk beginning at 4 p.m. For more information, visit ywcamc.org or call 831-422-8602.
FLU CLINIC
SOLEDAD — A free community flu vaccination clinic will take place Friday, Oct. 20, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Main Street Middle School, 9441 Main St., in Soledad. Influenza immunizations for individuals 6 months and older will be available on a walk-in basis. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Covid-19 immunizations will not be available. Flu vaccines are also available at pharmacies and through local healthcare providers.
MOVIE NIGHT
KING CITY — Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum will present Halloween Movie Night and Ghost Stories on Friday, Oct. 20, at the museum’s Main Barn, located inside San Lorenzo Park in King City. The event will begin with Ghost Stories at 7 p.m., followed by a showing of “The Wasp Woman” (1959) at 8 p.m. Admission is free, with all ages welcome to attend. Guests are asked to bring their own seating.
CLEANUP DAY
GONZALES — City of Gonzales and other organizations have planned a Reuse, Recycle and Cleanup Day on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Fairview Middle School, 401 Fourth St. Gonzales residents can dispose of such items as general garbage, electronics, TVs, computers, metal appliances and metal and steel items, including refrigerators and freezers, for free. No furniture or yard waste will be accepted. In addition, there will be a special materials collection for antifreeze, batteries, oil and paint.
BONUS BRIEF: FUN RUN
GREENFIELD — The Greenfield community is invited to attend the Greenfield Union School District Parent Academy’s Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 21, beginning at 9 a.m. with registration at Vista Verde Middle School. In collaboration with the Greenfield Recreation Department and Greenfield Police, the event includes a 3K run, field games, food and drinks, music and more. All proceeds will support the school.
