VETERAN PASS EXPANDS

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Parks has announced the expansion of its acceptance of the California Distinguished Veteran Pass. The pass, which grants free vehicle day use, family camping and boat use at more than 100 California State Parks, will now also waive boating fees at Monterey County lakes. In addition, camping stays have been extended from five to 14 days, with a 30-day annual maximum, aligning local benefits with those offered by the State Parks. BLOOD DRIVE

KING CITY — City of King is partnering with Vitalant and King City Rotary Club to host a blood drive to help meet critical blood supplies during the holidays. The blood drive will be held in the bloodmobile in front of the Recreation Center at 401 Division St. on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 1 to 5 p.m. Make an appointment online at vitalant.org or call 877-25-VITAL.


EV CHARGERS

SOLEDAD — According to Soledad Mayor Anna Velazquez, Monterey Bay Air Resources District (MBARD) has awarded $167,000 to the City of Soledad through the Clean Air Management Program (CAMP) to install public EV chargers at the Soledad Community Center. EV chargers help reduce air pollution, lower greenhouse gas emissions and make it easier for residents and travelers along Highway 101 to choose cleaner, more affordable transportation. “Thank you to our Recreation Director, Jessica Potts, for pursuing this grant opportunity and helping us invest in a cleaner, more sustainable future for Soledad,” stated Velazquez on social media Oct. 24.


BONUS BRIEF: LISTENING SESSION

SAN LUCAS — Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez and his District 3 office’s final community listening session of the year has been rescheduled for Thursday, Nov. 13, in San Lucas. The session, originally planned for Nov. 3, will take place at 6 p.m. at San Lucas Elementary, 53675 San Benito St., in San Lucas. Residents are invited to share their thoughts and concerns about the community and county government.
