TOWN HALL

SOLEDAD — Soledad City Council is hosting a town hall on Tuesday, May 31, to discuss the city’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. The council wants to hear from residents about the community’s needs and where the city should invest these dollars. The meeting will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Soledad Community Center, 560 Walker Drive.


SPORTS PHYSICALS

KING CITY — King City High School and Mee Memorial Hospital will provide free sports physicals for KCHS athletes and incoming eighth-grade athletes on Wednesday, June 1. The physicals are first-come, first-served from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the high school; enter through the Broadway Street parking lot. Physical forms will be available, and students are asked to wear athletic attire.


JOB FAIR

SOLEDAD — A job fair for South Monterey County will take place Wednesday, June 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Soledad Community Center, 560 Walker Drive, in Soledad. Job seekers should bring their resume while they network with employers and have onsite interviews. The South County Job Fair is co-sponsored by the Monterey County Workforce Development Board, the City of Soledad and the Soledad Parks and Recreation Department.


BONUS BRIEF: FOOD SCRAPS

GONZALES — In collaboration with Salinas Valley Recycles, City of Gonzales now has kitchen pails for food scraps available. The implementation of this program helps turn food scraps into compost that can enrich soil on farms and in home gardens while keeping waste out of the landfill. Anyone interested in receiving a pail can stop by Gonzales City Hall at 147 Fourth St. to pick one up.
