IMMIGRANT SUPPORT
SALINAS — Elected officials, labor unions, education leaders, health officials, businesses and community based organizations from Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties will hold a joint press conference Wednesday, June 18, at 11:30 a.m. in support of immigrants in Los Angeles, San Diego, Ventura County and across California. This is the first time a joint press conference with leaders of the entire Monterey Bay region will take place in light of enforcement actions targeting immigrant communities in recent weeks. The press conference will be held at the County of Monterey Government Center (Front Area outside), 168 W. Alisal St., in Salinas and will feature a diverse lineup of speakers representing County Supervisors, Mayors, Councilmembers, Monterey County Hospitality Association, Monterey County Farm Bureau, Education Leaders, Healthcare Officials, Community-Based Organizations, the Monterey Bay Central Labor Council and more.

SOLEDAD — City of Soledad will celebrate the arrival of its new fire ladder truck and the grand opening of a new apparatus bay (garage) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, June 20, at 10 a.m. at 525 Monterey St. Funded by a $2 million state grant from Sen. Anna Caballero and additional support from the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act, the new facility will enhance public safety and support the city’s growth, including plans for a possible four-story hotel. The community is invited to join the celebration and view this important milestone for Soledad.
