Community listening session set for Greenfield
GREENFIELD — Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez will be hosting a community listening session on Thursday, July 23, in Greenfield.
The session will take place at 6 p.m. at the Greenfield Library Branch, 315 El Camino Real. Residents are invited to share their thoughts and ideas about the community and county government.

Mayor hosts children’s storytime in Soledad
SOLEDAD — Soledad Mayor Anna Velazquez will host a special storytime and arts and crafts event for children at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, at the Monterey County Free Libraries’ Soledad Branch, 401 Gabilan Drive.
The free event will also highlight Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which provides free books each month to Monterey County children from birth through age 5.
Organizers said families who cannot attend can still enroll eligible children in the program by visiting imaginationlibrary.com/usa/affiliate/CAmonterey.
Highway 101 drainage project to begin Sunday
MONTEREY COUNTY — A project to upgrade drainage culverts along Highway 101 between Prunedale and San Lucas will begin Sunday, July 26, with lane and ramp closures expected through late winter.
Travelers on northbound and southbound 101 can expect intermittent overnight and daytime closures during construction, with delays not expected to exceed 10 minutes, according to Caltrans.
Drivers are encouraged to watch for electronic message boards, flaggers and highway workers throughout the work zone.
The $14 million project is being completed by Teichert Construction of Sacramento and is scheduled to continue through February 2027.
