ROAD REPAIRS

SOLEDAD — Construction crews are currently on site at the underpass on the southern end of Front Street in Soledad. Repairs are underway to fix the uneven grates in the asphalt. “Cyclists will soon enjoy a smoother and safer road to ride on,” stated the City of Soledad on Jan. 9. The repairs are expected to take about three weeks, and traffic will be impacted during this time. “Please drive slowly and exercise caution as crews are working in the area,” the City added.


BLUE ANGELS

SALINAS — After six years, the U.S. Navy Blue Angels will be back in Salinas, headlining the 44th Annual California International Airshow on Oct. 4-5. The Advance team of the Blue Angels will fly into Salinas on Thursday, Jan. 16, at about 12:55 p.m. at the Salinas Regional Airport and will meet with the California International Airshow team to plan out a safe and successful return of the Blues in October. Local residents should be looking up to see and hear the “sounds of freedom” when the Blue Angels jet lands on Thursday. The Blue Angels will be celebrating their 79th year of Naval Aviation, flying six combat-proven F/A 18 Super Hornets in formation, along with the Marine Corps’ premier logistics support FAT ALBERT, the C-130J Super Hercules. WREATH RECYCLING

KING CITY — There will be a recycling event this weekend for wreaths that were placed on veterans’ graves on Dec. 14. Volunteers can bring hand clippers and meet at the King City Cemetery, 1010 Broadway, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18. Farm animal owners can pick up the foliage that day.
