FOOD DONATIONS

SALINAS VALLEY — The little food pantries throughout the Salinas Valley could use a restock of donations, especially during the cold middle of winter. An online announcement and photo posted by Lola Smith to social media showed the little food pantry outside Liberty Chapel in Soledad as being completely empty.

MISSING CARTS

SOLEDAD — Sylvia Mendoza announced she is receiving reports of Foods Co shopping carts found outside the store’s parking lot in Soledad. Foods Co can be reached at 831-678-1937, and callers can leave a message for Mendoza with the locations of any found carts.

VACCINATION CLINICS

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Health Department, in conjunction with partnering agencies, launched the first Covid-19 vaccination clinics for health care workers on Jan. 2. These clinics will continue throughout the next few weeks. Under California’s Covid-19 Vaccine Plan, Phase 1a Tiers I, II and III prioritize health care workers as the first group to receive vaccinations. When more vaccine supplies become available locally, the county will move to Phase 1b, which includes frontline essential workers and anyone over the age of 75.
