WINTER CLOSURE

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County will have a winter closure for many operations from Dec. 23 through Jan. 2. During this time, many county offices will be closed or have limited hours of operation. The recess will not close any critical or public safety 24/7 operations. A schedule for all county offices during this time period is available on the county website co.monterey.ca.us.


CANDLELIGHT SERVICE

KING CITY — The public is invited to a candlelight service on Friday, Dec. 23, at Grace Lutheran Church, 205 Canal St., in King City. The service will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be preceded by refreshments starting at 5:30. Guests are invited to arrive early for a family photograph and an ornament craft for children. The church service will feature special music and a message from Pastor Wendell Brown, as well as the raising of the candles during the singing of “Silent Night.” For more information, contact the church at 831-385-5563 ext. 107.


PARKS SCHEDULE

MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County has released a schedule for county parks and recreation areas for Christmas Day, Sunday, Dec. 25. Jacks Peak, Manzanita, Royal Oaks and Toro parks and their restrooms will be open to walk-in visitors but closed to vehicles. San Lorenzo Park camping, restrooms and parking lots will be open in King City. Lakes Nacimiento and San Antonio will be open for camping, lodging and day use, using Iron Ranger-Self Pay for payment, but boat ramps will be closed. Laguna Seca Rifle Range will be closed. Parks staff, volunteers and rangers will be available should any issues or emergencies arise.
