DISTRICT MEETING

SOLEDAD — The City of Soledad and the City of Gonzales are hosting a Special Joint Meeting to discuss district-based elections on Wednesday, Dec. 14, at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at Soledad City Hall, 248 Main St., and streamed online via Zoom (Meeting ID: 872 9910 7483).


INTERNET SAFETY

GREENFIELD — An internet safety presentation designed for parents is planned for Thursday, Dec. 15, at 5:30 p.m. at the Greenfield Civic Center, 599 El Camino Real, in Greenfield. Local officers will provide tips on how to keep children safe when using their cell phones or other electronic devices. The presentation is open to all South Monterey County parents, and Spanish translation will be provided.


OPERATION SANTA

KING CITY — City of King is once again partnering with Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez, Assemblymember Robert Rivas, Food Bank for Monterey County, California Water Service, Fort Hunter Liggett, Salinas Valley Fair and other sponsors and participants for the second annual Operation Santa Claus event to deliver toys and food to local families in need. Donations of new unwrapped toys can be dropped off in the box at City Hall, 212 S. Vanderhurst Ave. Volunteers are also needed on Friday, Dec. 16, for a fun event with Santa Claus to distribute the food and toys from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds in King City. BONUS BRIEF: RIBBON CUTTING

LOCKWOOD — A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place Thursday, Dec. 15, to celebrate a new play structure at San Antonio Elementary School in Lockwood. The event begins at 3:15 p.m. at the school, 67550 Jolon Road.
