POLL WORKERS

MONTEREY COUNTY — On Wednesday, Aug. 23, Monterey County Elections is inviting community members to sign up to be a poll worker in honor of National Poll Worker Volunteer Day. BLOCK PARTY

KING CITY — King City Police Department has planned a District 4 Block Party on Thursday, Aug. 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Sussex Circle. There will be food, games, bounce houses, live music and more. The community can also meet their local councilmember, police officers and neighbors.


JAZZ AT THE RANCH

SALINAS — Rancho Cielo Youth Campus will present the inaugural Jazz at the Ranch concert fundraiser beginning this Friday, Aug. 25, at 7:30 p.m. with Tony Lindsay & The Soul Soldiers. The event includes hors d’oeuvres by Monterey chefs, local wines and beers and pre-concert entertainment by Youth Orchestra Salinas. Gates open at 5 p.m., with happy hour from 6 to 7 p.m. and the concert from 7:30 to 9 p.m. All proceeds benefit the youth of Rancho Cielo, located at 710 Old Stage Road, in Salinas. BONUS BRIEF: E-BIKE CHANGES

MONTEREY COUNTY — The County of Monterey is considering a change in E-bike use in county parks. Currently, E-bikes are only allowed on paved roads. Residents can take a short survey at tinyurl.com/2p9c25su to make sure their opinion on the E-bike usage on county park trails is heard. Survey deadline is Sept. 15.
