SALINAS VALLEY — Salinas Valley Fair Board of Directors has announced plans for the 2021 Salinas Valley Fair, which will again include a virtual livestock show and auction due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“With many unknowns for 2021, the Salinas Valley Fair is planning a Virtual Livestock Show and Auction for our exhibitors,” according to the Fair in a news release Thursday. “Show dates are subject to change, but the Board will try to keep the regularly scheduled dates if possible.”
Board members met Oct. 30 for their regular monthly meeting, during which they discussed the 77th Fair, which is being planned for May 12-16, 2021, in King City. Entry date deadlines for the online auction will be announced soon, the Fair said.
“Salinas Valley Fair continues to monitor state and local guidelines daily, maintaining close contact with city, state, and health officials to make sure we can offer a safe and competitive event,” the release stated. “The Board is optimistic as they look forward and will continue to keep exhibitors informed during the coming weeks and months.”
The 2020 Salinas Valley Fair was canceled earlier this year due to Covid-19 health concerns and restrictions. Instead, the Fair’s annual Junior Livestock Auction was reconfigured into an online format, which generated $725,000 in sales for local 4-H and FFA members.
