GREENFIELD — Greenfield Fire Protection District will be hosting a public hearing for the purposes of an introduction and first reading of an ordinance concerning weed and refuse abatement on Wednesday, March 10, at 5 p.m.

The meeting will be held virtually with connection information posted on the City of Greenfield Fire Department Facebook page.

The ordinance will require properties to remove weeds and other fire hazards from the property, and, if the fire hazard is not removed, the district or the city may enter the property to remove the hazard and pass the cost of removing the hazard to the property owner.

A copy of the proposed ordinance is available upon request, and can also be viewed online here.

Members of the public are invited to attend the meeting virtually and provide oral comments at the hearing. Written comments may also be submitted to the fire chief, prior to the date and time of the hearing.

Send questions or comments no later than 4 p.m. on March 10 to [email protected] or 380 Oak Ave., Greenfield, CA 93927. The district can also be contacted at 831-674-5484.
