Police arrest Greenfield resident for shooting in King City

GREENFIELD — Through continuing investigation, King City Police Department detectives identified several subjects as persons of interest in the April 15 shooting of a juvenile in the 600 block of Bishop Street in King City.

On May 11, KCPD officers, along with assistance from other law enforcement agencies, served three search warrants simultaneously in the city of Greenfield.

The resulting search and investigation led to the arrest of Faustino Jimenez, 19, of Greenfield on the charges of assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a weapon in a grossly negligent manner, conspiracy and conspiracy for furtherance of a criminal street gang.

Jimenez was booked into Monterey County Jail without incident.

On April 15, at about 8:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 600 block of Bishop Street, where there was a celebration happening in the carport area with more than 100 people in attendance.

According to police, a vehicle passed by the residence and “words were exchanged” between someone at the celebration and passengers in the vehicle. The vehicle continued down the street before turning around and coming back.

As it passed the residence a second time, an occupant inside the vehicle fired several shots in the direction of the celebration, police said. A juvenile was hit, suffering a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower leg, and transported to the hospital for treatment.

“King City Police Department would like to express our gratitude to Monterey County Sheriff’s Department SWAT Team, Monterey Regional SWAT Team, Monterey County District Attorney Investigations, South Monterey County Task Force, Monterey County Probation, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations, Greenfield and Soledad Police Departments, California Department of Fish and Wildlife and Monterey County Communications for their assistance in both the investigation and successful and safe service of the search warrants,” said KCPD in a news release.

Anyone with additional information regarding this case is encouraged to contact KCPD at 831-385-4848; Detective Sgt. Josh Partida at 831-386-5988 or [email protected]; or the WeTip line at 1-800-78-CRIME.
