On November 18 2018, Joseph Solis Sr aka “Papa Joe” suffered a massive stroke. He fought for 4 days on life support but was unable to recover from the damage done by the stroke and trauma to his brain. He passed peacefully with family on November 21, 2018.

Papa Joe was loved by many for his kind and peaceful demeanor, his compassion and his easy going approach to life even after a lifetime of battling PTSD, Agent Orange exposure and other health ailments caused from his service in the Vietnam War. He met his wife, Rosalina (Magpusao) Solis as childhood family friends and married upon returning from battle in 1971.

They remained married for the next 47 years and resided in the Watsonville and Salinas areas. Together they raised 2 sons, Joseph and Jason, and dedicated their later years to their one and only grandchild, Jadyn. Known as “Uncle Joe” and “ToTo” to an entire family and community, he will be remembered for his gentle spirit and his love for everyone.

Joe is survived by his wife Rosalina (Magpusao), sons Joseph and Jason, daughter-in-law Mindy and grandson Jadyn. He was a good father, a loyal husband, a loving brother, a favorite uncle, the best father-in-law and the ideal grandfather.
