Esther Hazel Spady, 98, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019. She was born on March 21, 1921, in Gonzales, the daughter of William and Clementina Vosti. She graduated from Gonzales High School.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Golden West restaurants until her retirement in 1995. Her retirement years were devoted to her love for gardening, volunteering and cooking. She was a remarkable cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays.
Esther is survived by her daughter Sheila Spady, two granddaughters Chelsea Bennett (Quentin) and Courtney Agpaoa, a sister Dorthy Laughton and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Mary Vosti, Rose Pozzi, Edith Tognetti and Anita Merrill Domingos and brother William (Bill) Vosti.
At Esther’s request, she will be interred at the family plot in Gonzales in a private ceremony. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last days.
