KING CITY — Mee Memorial Board of Trustees has officially named Rena Salamacha as CEO of Mee Memorial Healthcare System, effective Aug. 1.
“We are excited to have such an accomplished professional at the helm of our healthcare system during this period of significant change and challenge,” said Board Chairman Michael Howard in a news release Thursday. “We are confident Rena can help navigate our medical service improvements while maintaining a high level of community trust.”
Salamacha, who has been serving as interim CEO since last November, joined Mee Memorial 11 years ago as the director of information technology. She has also served as the chief information officer and chief strategy and technology officer as well as chief operations officer during that time.
“Over the years, Rena has provided leadership that drives operational efficiency through process improvement, standardization and reduction of clinical variations ensuring the delivery of high quality and cost-effective care,” according to Thursday’s news release from Mee Memorial.
Salamacha has a master’s degree in management and systems with a concentration in leadership and strategy from New York University and a bachelor’s degree in information technology from University of Phoenix. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in healthcare administration.
“I am humbled and privileged to be CEO of Mee Memorial Healthcare System, and I appreciate the confidence that the Board of Trustees have placed in me,” Salamacha said. “I have had the pleasure of being a part of Mee Memorial over the past 11 years, and it’s obvious Mee Memorial has an exceptional group of providers and staff who are committed and engaged in providing outstanding healthcare in the community,” she continued. “I look forward to continuing my career with such an exceptional organization, with a team approach of continued improvement.”
Prior to joining Mee Memorial, Salamacha spent nine years in hospital finance and healthcare information technology roles. Her previous experience “has been an asset to her leadership,” the news release added.
Mee Memorial Healthcare System operates Mee Memorial Hospital and three clinics in King City as well as the Albert and Donna Oliveira Clinic in Greenfield.
