To the Editor:
Donald Trump was elected U.S. president by the narrowest margin in history, which he claims is a mandate.
His foreign relations policies are making enemies of former friends. His economic policies are devastating the economy. Likewise, his deportation policies are upending the agriculture, construction, hospitality and personal services industries. He labels the immigrants that fuel these industries criminals, despite evidence to the contrary.
Just this weekend hundreds of Venezuelans were illegally sent to a concentration camp in El Salvador, using the same process by which Japanese citizens were detained in such camps during World War II. The dehumanization rivals anything done by the Nazis; no proof these humans are dangerous criminals is being made available to us in whose name these actions are taken.
In the name of fighting fraud and abuse, President Trump and Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire immigrant, are tearing down tax-funded government agencies designed to protect our health and welfare, agencies that contribute to our safety, agencies that provide jobs to veterans and other qualified, hard-working Americans. The money they āsaveā by destroying these important government agencies is intended to fund a huge tax cut for billionaires.
Tomorrow is the spring equinox, beginning a new season of green growth and expanding light.
Many who are fed up with chaos and destruction will gather at the King City sign on the corner of Broadway and 101 between 4 and 6 p.m. on the second day of spring, Friday, March 21, to register our disgust.
We stand for the good in us replacing fear and hate. Please join us.
