SALINAS — The last day to register to vote for the June 4 Hartnell Community College District, Trustee Area 6, Special Vacancy Election is Monday, May 20.

Trustee Area 6 includes parts of Northeast Salinas, Chualar, Gonzales and Soledad.

Eligible citizens can register to vote:

  • Online at RegisterToVote.ca.gov by 11:59 p.m. on May 20;
  • In-person by 5 p.m. at the Monterey County Elections office, 1441 Schilling Place – North Building, Salinas;
  • By mail, completing a paper voter registration application, postmarked by May 20. The forms are available at libraries, post offices, DMV, and city/county offices.

To register to vote, you must be: (1) a U.S. Citizen; (2) a California resident; (3) at least 18 years of age on or before Election Day; (4) not be in federal or state prison for the conviction of a felony; and (5) not found mentally incompetent to vote by a court.

Voters who miss the registration deadline can still register conditionally and cast a provisional ballot in person at any early vote location or at a local polling place.
