MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two separate incidents involving the discovery of human remains last Saturday in north Monterey County and Salinas, including the death of an infant found alongside a roadway.
At about 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 1, fire personnel, emergency medical services and sheriff’s deputies responded to the 100 block of Struve Road after receiving a report of an infant that had been found. Fire personnel confirmed the infant was deceased.

The vehicle has since been located and recovered by investigators.

The second incident was reported at about 9:55 a.m. on Aug. 1, when sheriff’s deputies responded to the 400 block of Old Stage Road in Salinas after a county employee discovered what appeared to be human remains.
The Sheriff’s Office said both incidents remain under investigation.
