KING CITY — On March 16, at about 10:13 p.m., officers from the King City Police Department responded to the 400 block of Jayne Street regarding a report of subjects cocking a handgun and getting into a vehicle not known to the area.
When officers arrived, a resident pointed out the vehicle. Officers approached the vehicle and discovered a male subject — later identified as Romeo Tejeda-Gonzalez, 18, of Greenfield — slumped over in the back seat.
As officers attempted to contact him, police said Tejeda-Gonzalez charged them, but they were able to stop him and take him into custody.
Officers found a loaded handgun in one of Tejeda-Gonzalez’s pockets. Inspection showed the handgun did not have a serial number and is frequently referred to as a “ghost gun.”
Tejeda-Gonzalez was booked into the Monterey County Jail on multiple weapon charges, battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
