Greenfield Police investigating shooting on Chalone Drive

GREENFIELD — Just before midnight on Sept. 7, officers from the Greenfield Police Department responded to multiple reports of gunshots in the 1100 block of Chalone Drive.

Upon arrival, officers were notified of a gunshot victim in the 50 block of 11th Street. They arrived and discovered an adult victim who was suffering from non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Detectives were notified and have since taken charge of the investigation.

Early the next morning, Sept. 8, officers served a search warrant at a residence located on Chalone Drive in connection with the shooting incident.

Due to the proximity of Arroyo Seco Academy, precautionary measures were taken, and the school was placed under lockdown for about 15 minutes. The lockdown was to “ensure the safety of the students and staff during the law enforcement operation,” police said.

“At this time, specific details regarding the nature of the search warrant and the ongoing investigation are not available,” police said. “However, we are actively speaking with community members and gathering additional information and evidence related to the shooting.”

Anyone with more information regarding the shooting or any suspicious activities in the area is encouraged to contact Detective Lerma at 831-601-8376.
