GREENFIELD — Greenfield Police Department has introduced its newest members, who bring a wealth of experience, dedication and local pride to the force.

“Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Captain Andres Paredes, Officer Erik Vargas and Officer Kendrick Pearson,” police said.

Captain Andres Paredes joins the department with an impressive 28-year tenure from the Los Angeles Police Department. Renowned for his expertise in gang-related homicide investigations, Paredes has a proven track record of excellence and leadership.

Fluent in Spanish, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from California State University Fullerton, and a Master of Arts degree in leadership and organizational studies from Azusa Pacific University.

“His expertise and leadership will be invaluable to our community,” police said.

Officer Erik Vargas, a first-generation law enforcement officer, is eager to serve and set a positive example for his younger brothers and the community.

As a South Monterey County native, Vargas is grateful for the opportunity to serve close to home. He is fluent in Spanish and aims to bridge cultural gaps and build strong relationships within the community.

Officer Kendrick Pearson, another proud Monterey County native, holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Willamette University. As a former college athlete and football player, Pearson brings teamwork and dedication to his role.

Sworn in on March 7, Pearson completed his four-month field training program and is now a solo patrol officer. He is committed to serving Greenfield and aspires to become a detective in the future.

The swearing-in ceremony for Paredes and Vargas took place July 12 at the Greenfield Civic Center, marking the official start of their journey with the department. Their addition to the team promises a strengthened commitment to safety, community engagement and leadership.

“Please help us welcome Captain Paredes, Officer Vargas and Officer Pearson to Greenfield,” police said.
