GREENFIELD — A 34-year-old Greenfield man was arrested April 28 after allegedly brandishing a firearm during a confrontation with a family, according to the Greenfield Police Department.
Officers responded just after 4 p.m. to the 1000 block of Walnut Avenue for a report of a man with a gun. Police said Sergio Raya Jr. approached a family outside their home and became involved in a verbal confrontation with an adult male who was with his wife and juvenile daughter.
“During the confrontation, Raya removed a black firearm from his waistband and pointed it at the family before fleeing the area in a vehicle,” police said.
Officers located Raya a short distance away and conducted a high-risk felony stop in the 900 block of Walnut Avenue, where he was taken into custody without incident.
Detectives later served two residential search warrants at a home in the 1000 block of Walnut Avenue and another residence in the 1000 block of Paloma Avenue. During the searches, officers recovered two black 9mm handguns, one from the family residence and one from Raya’s vehicle. Both were seized as evidence, police said.
Raya was booked into the Monterey County Jail on charges including brandishing a firearm, child endangerment and related offenses.
Greenfield Police Department thanked the Soledad Police for its assistance.
“If you see something, say something,” the department said. “Your information helps us respond quickly and prevent incidents like this.”
