GONZALES — The City of Gonzales and the Blue Zones Project Monterey County have been offering Chair Yoga to residents on Saturdays at the Vosti Center at 107 Centennial Drive.
The Chair Yoga class began Feb. 3, and there are still six weeks left to participate.
“We have had a great turnout with about 14 participants for the first class,” said Dalila Alvarado of the Blue Zones Project. “The class is bilingual, as we are hoping to reach both the English and Spanish speaking communities. We had a Zumba series in the park in the fall, and depending on the success of this series, we will assess and plan for other similar activities to engage the Gonzales population.”
Vivian Leyva of Gonzales is one of the instructors for the Chair Yoga classes that take place from 9 to 10 a.m.
“Having the instructor from Gonzales is an added bonus,” Alvarado said. “We also hold a raffle at the end of each class.”
