GONZALES — A vehicle pursuit ended in a collision between a police car and a second vehicle on May 30.

According to Gonzales Police Chief Keith Wise, a police officer was in pursuit of a suspect with multiple outstanding warrants Tuesday afternoon on Alta Street. The driver, Hector Sandavol, 25, was being pursued by officers and was driving southbound on Alta Street to Highway 101. The police officer was chasing Sandavol when another driver was trying to turn into Constellation Winery and the two vehicles collided.

The officer and the two people in the second vehicle were injured and rushed to the hospital.

Sandoval got away in a white Chevy Malibu and is facing additional charges.
