GONZALES — Male and Female Athletes of the Year for the 2024-25 school year at Gonzales High School were announced last week.

Spartan senior football, basketball and track and field athlete Jackie Camacho was chosen as the Female Athlete of the Year, and senior cross country and track and field athlete Giovanni Ochoa was chosen as Male Athlete of the Year.

In addition, Ochoa received a scholarship from the Monterey Bay Wednesday Night Laundry Runners. The scholarship is awarded to outstanding high school distance runners that competed in both cross country and distance races in track and field (800, 1600 and 3200). The senior runner also must plan to compete in a two- or four-year college, loves running, is a role model, is successful in running, and must have the minimum of a 3.0 GPA.

Lan Clayton, a member of the Monterey Bay Wednesday Night Laundry Runners, presented the scholarship to Ochoa.
