GONZALES — The Gonzales High girls tennis team was busy last week with scrimmages against Everett Alvarez and North Salinas. The Spartans played a total of three scrimmages last week.

“We played Alvarez twice and North Salinas once,” said Gonzales head coach Rene Mendez. “Since it is pre-season the primary goals were to have all the girls play in two matches with Alvarez that were essentially scrimmages. All the girls got some match experience and our returning players did very well, especially the double teams. In our match with North Salinas I did not have all my players available, but we did keep score for the top 10. The doubles team played very well and in fact all three matches were decided on a handful of points.”

Gonzales will play at Watsonville High School on Thursday, Sept. 20, and in Gilroy against Christopher High School on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
