GREENFIELD — In the Nov. 5 Presidential General Election, incumbent Ariana Rodriguez has successfully defended her Greenfield City Council seat for District 4.

Rodriguez, a college program coordinator who joined the council last year, secured 225 votes, or 60.32%, against challenger Cynthia Zavala, who earned 148 votes, or 39.68%, as of the latest election results.

“I have only been on council for one year and have not nearly made the impact I aspire to in our city,” according to Rodriguez in her candidate statement. “I hope to … continue my effort to affect positive change in our community and foster a sense of safety, support and unity for residents.”

Meanwhile, the race for Greenfield’s District 1 seat remains closely contested.

Belen Garcia, a retired educator, currently leads with 199 votes (54.52%) over Stephanie J. Garcia, a litigation paralegal, who has 166 votes (45.48%). With only an 8% margin, the race could still shift with the next set of results, which are expected Friday from Monterey County Elections.

In District 2, Marcy Jones, an HR manager, ran unopposed and received 302 votes, winning the seat with 100% of the vote.
