SALINAS — Students from Gonzales and Soquel high schools participated in the FARMS Leadership Program at Hartnell College’s Alisal Campus on Feb. 15.
Led by Program Assistant Celia Anderson, students toured the diesel-driving simulation lab and completed a microscope slide preparation with instructional associate Julio Martinez.
They also received a tour of the Manufacturing/Mechatronics Lab from instructor Richard Chapman and participated in a Maker Space activity led by K-12 Stem Director Julia Stephens Carrillo, with support from program assistants Samuel Garcia and Leticia Sanchez.
In addition, students received information on Career Prep and Placement Services from Director Belen Gonzales and Coordinator Dina Uribe.
FARMS Leadership is a program organized by the Center for Land-Based Learning to introduce, train and recruit high school students for careers in agriculture and environmental sciences.
