SOUTH COUNTY — Salinas Valley Fair welcomed autumn last week with its second annual Fall Carnival at the fairgrounds in King City, featuring carnival rides, games and food from Midway of Fun, in addition to a hay maze, blacksmith demonstrations, decorating contests, farm-themed play areas and local vendors.

The four-day family event opened last Thursday, Sept. 20, and continued through the weekend, during which a portion of the proceeds went toward local schools and nonprofit organizations.
