MONTEREY COUNTY — Applications are closing soon for an Individual Artists Grant through the Arts Council for Monterey County (Arts4MC).

The Individual Artists Grant program was established to acknowledge artistic excellence, offer direct assistance to artists who demonstrate readiness to take their work to the next level and foster public appreciation of the role of artists in the community.

This program offers awards to artists at different stages of their careers. Career tiers include:

  • Emerging Artists, who are just beginning to showcase their work publicly and engage with the community, can apply for one of 16 awards worth up to $5,000; and
  • Established Artists, who have a track record of public engagement and have made a significant social impact through their art, can apply for one of two awards worth up to $10,000.

This annual grant is available to Monterey County artists of all disciplines.

“These artists contribute significantly to both the cultural and economic aspects of our community,” said Jacquie Atchison, Arts4MC executive director. “Supporting these artists is not just valuable, but also necessary.”

The deadline to apply for the 2024 Individual Artists Grant is April 22.

Applicants must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of Monterey County for the past two years (and able to provide proof of residency).
