MONTEREY COUNTY — National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for areas of Monterey County, effective from Wednesday, June 5, through Thursday, June 6.
Residents are urged to take precautions to stay safe during this period of elevated temperatures, which could reach triple digits. Key recommendations include drinking plenty of fluids, staying in air-conditioned rooms and avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun.
To assist residents in coping with the heat, the County of Monterey and the cities of South Monterey County have designated several cooling centers with specific hours of operation.
Cooling Center Locations and Hours
- King City Library, 402 Broadway St.; Wednesday and Thursday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- San Ardo Library, 62350 College St.; Wednesday: 1 to 6 p.m.; and Thursday: 2 to 6 p.m.
- San Lucas Library, 54692 Teresa St.; Wednesday: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Thursday: 2 to 6 p.m.
Additional Public Locations
These locations are also available for those seeking relief from the heat:
- Soledad Community Center, 560 Walker Drive; Wednesday and Thursday: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- Greenfield Civic Center, 599 El Camino Real; Wednesday and Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
