CENTRAL COAST — County of Monterey, County of San Benito and Lead Me Home Continuum of Care are partnering on a joint state application to bring a new round of State Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP) funding to the communities.

Previous HHAP funds have built and strengthened the network of county agencies and nonprofit organizations that provide a continuum of services across the two counties to address homelessness, including outreach, housing navigation, connection to health and welfare services, emergency shelter, rapid re-housing and permanent supportive housing.

Community input on local needs is crucial to the success of this application. To inform their Coordinated Homelessness Action Plan, a survey has been created to gather information.

A wide range of individuals are invited to share their opinions on the types of services HHAP funds should support and their experiences, including:

  • Adults and youth with lived experience of homelessness;
  • Homeless service and housing providers;
  • Leaders and staff from health, welfare, justice and education systems;
  • First responders and outreach workers; and
  • Members of local government and the general public.

The survey is open to those in Monterey and San Benito counties and is available in English (tinyurl.com/bdfm2tb3) and Spanish (tinyurl.com/2z9sjtnz).

State Homeless Housing, Assistance and Prevention (HHAP) funding supports efforts in counties throughout the state to assess the need for homelessness prevention and response services, provide effective solutions, and collaborate to prevent new instances of homelessness.

The Coalition of Homeless Services Providers is the lead agency for the Monterey and San Benito Counties Continuum of Care. Alongside the County of Monterey and the County of San Benito, the Coalition works to coordinate resources, services and strategies aimed at ending homelessness in the region.
