GONZALES — The City of Gonzales has heard the issues brought up by business owners at the last city council meeting and has responded by posting speed limit signs and marking business roadways to help guide trucks through entryways.
The businesses wanted five feet of no parking on each side of Gonzales River Road that was, according to Public Works Director Harold Wolgamott, painted and enforced.
“All the businesses wanted it and came in unison to ask for it,” Wolgamott said.
Another issue that arose at a previous council meeting was the speeding on Gonzales River Road. The City has posted speed limit signs of 25 miles per hour. Wolgamott said that there are two signs on Gonzales River Road in each direction at the suggestion of Police Chief Keith Wise.
Larger detour signs are in the position of the Alta Street project manager and more will be posted around Gonzales.
