SOLEDAD — California Highway Patrol King City Area is asking for the public’s help in identifying the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred May 18 near Fort Romie, west of Soledad.
According to CHP, dispatchers received a report at about 5:08 a.m. of a collision on Private Road No. 2 west of Fort Romie Road. Investigators determined an adult male pedestrian was struck by an unknown vehicle while in or near the roadway. The driver fled the scene before emergency personnel arrived.
The pedestrian died at the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officers are working to identify the vehicle and driver. No description of the suspect vehicle has been released. Investigators are reviewing evidence from the scene and seeking witnesses or surveillance footage from the surrounding area.
