GONZALES — Alta Street project has been delayed due to permits to put signs on Highway 101 returning as denied.

According to Public Works Director Harold Wolgamott, the permit for the project is in the revision process and was submitted on Nov. 20. He said the expectation is that the permit will be issued this week and the signs will be posted Nov. 28 or 29. Once posted, Granite Construction plans to start work immediately.

“The project is 80 working days and that doesn’t count rain delays,” Wolgamott said.

Wolgamott is working on a detour and phasing plan for the Alta Street Project that will be posted online at www.ci.gonzales.ca.us/Alta-Project.php.
