GONZALES — The City of Gonzales is changing its bidding procedures for construction projects to reflect that of the state.

“We got a notice from the State Controller that the spending limits for public works projects went up,” said Public Works Director Harold Wolgamott.

The bidding procedures had a limit of $45,000 and went up to $60,000 for no-bidding required projects. Informal bidding went up to $200,000 and anything over has to be a formal bidding process.

Gonzales City Council introduced the title for the ordinance Nov. 19. The ordinance was first approved by Mayor Pro-Tem Liz Silva, seconded by Councilmember Jose Lopez and unanimously approved by the rest of the council.
