GONZALES — South County police departments in the cities of Gonzales, Soledad, Greenfield and King City are working together to strengthen their regional law enforcement.
The departments have found that not everyone can make it to a council meeting or to their local station, but they are interested to know what people feel is needed for the police to help residents.
Local police have come up with a survey that will help them find out what the general public’s opinion of city police services are today.
The survey, available in Spanish and English, has 13 questions, including one that asks for residents’ ideas on how the police department and residents can work together to make Gonzales better.
Other questions include: “Do Gonzales police officers and Gonzales residents work well together to make Gonzales a better place to live?” “Are you willing to help Gonzales Police keep the city safe by providing them with crime information?” and “How concerned are you about the amount of bullying there is among youth at Gonzales schools?”
The city will ask the community the same questions again in a few years to measure how much opinions have changed in that time. All answers to this survey are anonymous and cannot be traced back to the participant.
Researchers will add up the responses and present them to the four city police departments, and the results will also be shared with the community.
