SOLEDAD  A victim of a shooting in the area of Vosti Avenue and Fifth Street in Soledad died Saturday, March 3, at 8:32 a.m., according to the Soledad Police Department.

Soledad police officers and medical personnel arrived on scene and located a man lying on the front yard of a corner residence. They immediately began providing medical aid to the victim, who was transported to Natividad Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The victim’s name was not released, pending notification of next of kin.

“Several witnesses called the dispatch center reporting what sounded like multiple gunshots being fired in the area of the 1600 block of Vosti Avenue,” said Deputy Chief Damon Wasson.

According to witnesses, the possible suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 foot, 10 inches tall with a thin build. The suspect was last seen wearing a gray hooded top, had a white or light gray bandana covering his facing and was wearing dark gray or black shorts.

Soledad Police Department is calling this an active investigation.
