Republican Women Scholarships

GREENFIELD — Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated honored three local high school graduates during its July meeting, presenting each recipient with a scholarship check.

The recipients were Alejandra Villa-Hernandez of Greenfield and Kendyl Burpo and Thomas Storelli of King City.

Villa-Hernandez is a graduate of Greenfield High School and plans to become an engineer in the field of agriculture. She has been active in First Robotics, Garden Club, Girls Inc., Sun Street Centers, CSF, ETS and the A.D.A.P.T. Club.

Burpo is a graduate of King City High School and plans to earn a degree in health science and become an oncology research coordinator. While at King City High, she participated in basketball, King City Rural 4-H and King City FFA.

Storelli, also a King City High School graduate, plans to attend Hartnell College and enroll in a commercial and industrial electrical apprenticeship program while pursuing his EMT certification. He has volunteered with King City in Bloom, Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum, Rural 4-H, King City FFA, Salinas Valley Fair and the Monterey County Fair.

Southern Monterey County Republican Women Federated holds monthly meetings and provides scholarships to support local students pursuing educational and career goals. The July 14 meeting was held at the Cork and Plough Restaurant in King City.
