GONZALES — Residents of Gonzales will have an opportunity to recycle unwanted items and pick up free compost during the annual Reuse, Recycle & Cleanup Day on Saturday, June 27.

The free event will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until collection containers reach capacity, at Fairview Middle School. The cleanup effort is organized in partnership with Salinas Valley Recycles and Tri-Cities Disposal & Recycling and is open to Gonzales residents only.

Accepted items include general garbage, electronics, televisions, computers, metal appliances, refrigerators, freezers and other metal and steel items. A special collection will also accept items such as household batteries, automotive batteries, used motor oil, oil filters, paint and sharps containers.

Organizers noted that furniture and yard waste will not be accepted.

In addition to recycling services, attendees will be able to receive free compost while supplies last. Residents who bring used oil filters for recycling may also receive up to two free replacement oil filters.

“This is a great opportunity to responsibly dispose of items you no longer use and help keep our community clean,” organizers said.
