GONZALES — Gonzales High School’s football program hosted its awards night Dec. 15 at the school cafeteria.

Players from the varsity and junior varsity football teams were honored for their hard work this past season.

Receiving team awards for the varsity team were: Larry Bettencourt (Coaches Award); Joshua Mariscal (Coaches Award); Gabriel Prieto (Best Defensive Back); Jordan Askew (Best Outside Linebacker); Briyan Tello (Most Improved Player); Ethan Duarte (Coaches Award); Luis Cabada (Coaches Award); Jesus Ruacho (Coaches Award); Marvin Pena (Nick Alvarado Underdog Award); Jorge Uribe (Most Valuable Player); and Jaden Uribe (Golden Helmet Award).

Captain Pins were awarded to Bettencourt, Askew and Jaden Uribe.

Junior varsity award winners were: Jesus Rodriguez (Defensive Player of the Year); Alejandro Rodriguez (Offensive Player of the Year); Brian Tavares (Most Valuable Player); Isaac Valdez (Lineman of the Year); Andrew Tejeda (Coaches Award); and Fernando De Leon (Most Improved).
